Membership Information

Your Greater Los Angeles World Trade Center Association exists to introduce you to worldwide business contacts, help you develop commercial partnerships and assist you in effectively operating in the international arena.

We are committed to tangible, positive contributions to our Members’ profitability through the following techniques:

Reduced Expenses -- Offering more experience, human resources, and acumen in global commerce than is pratical for an individual commercial interest to keep on permanent payroll

Comprehensive Global Communications -- Buy, sell, trade or advertise through NETWORK, our international on-line trading and communications system.

New Business Opportunities -- Plentiful new “live” contacts, worldwide, using the unparalleled matchmaking relationships of the WTCA.

Increased Success Probability -- Getting to the right contact with the right message the first time greatly improves your international success ratio. We know it and will direct you accordingly.

Access to Foreign Services -- Supporting the “comfort level” of traveling Members with 238 association offices in 54 countries.

Global Leverage – “Borrow” cost-effective WTCA personnel and facilities to lend your own assets a remarkable multiplier effect.

Services

Member services through the Greater Los Angeles World Trade Center Association are extended to companies, municipalities, associations and individual entrepreneurs.

All services are available through both Los Angeles-area locations in Long Beach and downtown Los Angeles.

Trade Development and Consultation

In addition to membership, the WTCA acts as a billable international consultant for its members. Show us your product or describe your service and we can provide premarketing analyses and identify optimum markets around the world.

As part of our matchmaking function, we can also:

• Develop your marketing approach and strategic plan
• Propose brokerage relationships, extend trace referrals and identify joint venture opportunities, and
• Provide accurate in-country intelligence, strategic information and the enterprise requisite to profitable overseas trading.

From basic information to strategic assistance, use the WTCA as your complete global consultative resource.

NETWORK

If you have access to a computer terminal, modem and phone line, you have instant international trading, communications and advertising capability at your fingertips.

Through the World Trade Center association’s electronic NETWORK service, Members can:

• Post offers to buy/sell that become immediately available to thousands of WTCA members;
• Tap into the NETWORK database of information on subscribers, including corporate profiles, product/service descriptions, bank references, phone numbers and address(s);
• Use built-in electronic mail, telex, and fax lines communicating for a fraction of the cost of normal channels; and
• Reach some 3.5 million targeted readers through print reproduction in newspapers and WTCA publications, worldwide.

Education and Matchmaking Programs

Basic membership in the Greater Los Angeles World Trade Center Association guarantees 30 educational, business development and social opportunities annually:

• Consular Corps Sessions -- 10 per year. Informal, semi-private meetings with trade representatives or consular envoys from select trading nations. Exclusive, frank and
  face-to-face conferences with international leaders.
• Business Development Seminars -- 10 per year. Intensive sessions devoted to specific marketing/management subjects germane to profitable international trade. Outstanding, focused, small-group learning courses.
• Networking Mixers -- 10 social gatherings annually, to meet and mix with other members and representatives of groups sharing your interest in successful trade relationships.

Greater Los Angeles Facilities

As a package, the business-specific facilities available to Southland WTCA Members are difficult to match for elegance, efficiency and economy.

Concentrated in Long Beach, these include regional offices of the U.S. Customs Office, the Post Office, dozens of trade-related business services, quality retail shops, and some major firms engaged in world trade today.

The Los Angeles office is strategically located in the heart of the downtown business district, walking minutes from the city’s trade and service leaders.

Greater Los Angeles WTCA facilities also include the following:

• WTCA Research Library -- Stocked and continuously updated with a concentration of international trade-related publications. Hard-to-find dailies, weeklies, periodicals, and hardcover volumes, plus worldwide ‘yellow pages.’

Global Services and Facilities

With offices in 2,388 cities and 54 countries, The World Trade Centers Association is the planet’s largest nonprofit, apolitical group devoted to the promotion of international business.

Regardless of size or location, the WTCA in your geographic area of interest will supply fundamental advisory services. Further, rely on the WTCA Family to assist in making your trade travels more comfortable and productive:

• 60+ centers maintain Member-only Clubs
• Some centers feature exhibit/display areas and temporary executives office
• Many also extend Member Discounts on travel, accommodations, products and services (in varying amounts and availability)
• Many can assist with interpreters, area guides, and hospitality and travel recommendations.

Shared Foreign Sales Corporation (FSC)

If you anticipate taxable profits of at least $60,000 from overseas sales, yours may be one of the 10,000 U.S. firms that would benefit financially from the WTCA’s Shared Foreign Sales Corporation

Center for International Commercial Arbitration

The center was established at the WTCA by the Greater Los Angeles legal community as a means of efficiently resolving disputes involving international business without going to court.

Offering culture-sensitive conciliation, arbitration, and mediation, the Center represents a substantial neutral resource to WTCA Members actively participating in international exchange.

Membership Levels

Basic membership entitles each individual cardholder to full WTCA membership privileges. The primary Member will be assessed the full annual fee, plus a one-time initiation fee. Each additional member will be assessed a reduced annual fee. No initiation fees are required for additional Members. Please refer to the accompanying Membership Application for current fees.

Premier Membership is extended to qualified enterprises interested in exclusive supplemental level of privileges and opportunities.
